Samudra Hartanto, born in East Java, successfully launched his career post-graduation from the Royal College of Art London when he landed in 1997 a coveted position in Paris at Louis Vuitton. There he joined the womenswear team under the artistic direction debut of Marc Jacobs. It was an extraordinary experience to participate in the birth of the fashion department and experience the meteoric rise of the brand.
Six years later, Samudra seized an opportunity to move to Hermès as a senior womenswear designer, working under the artistic direction of Jean-Paul Gaultier. It was thrilling to be caught between the revolutionary playfulness of Gaultier and the mythical house of Hermès where craftsmanship, creativity and discretion matter most.
After 14 Hermès collections, Gaultier returned to his fashion house in 2010, taking Samudra with him and introducing him to the world of haute couture. From Monsieur Gaultier, Samudra learned to appreciate beauty in diversity and assisted him in weaving his elaborate fantasies into reality for 10 years.
In March 2020, everything changed.
Seeking solace through creativity and resourcefulness, seeking a more caring world of fashion, Samudra started to imagine how to capture beauty in an imperfect world. This led spontaneously to his new adventure of unique upcycled pieces which celebrate tradition with a touch of decadence inspired by the improvisational nature of jazz and imbued with a playful Parisian spirit.

Samudra Hartanto est né à Java. Il a lancé avec succès sa carrière post-diplôme du Royal College of Art de Londres en décrochant un poste convoité chez Louis Vuitton à Paris. Il rejoint l'équipe féminine sous la direction artistique de Marc Jacobs. Ce fut une expérience extraordinaire de participer à la naissance du département de mode et de vivre l'ascension fulgurante de la marque.
Six ans plus tard, Samudra saisit l'opportunité de s'installer chez Hermès en tant que styliste femme, sous la direction artistique de Jean-Paul Gaultier. Il était ravi d'être pris entre l'enjouement révolutionnaire de Gaultier et la maison mythique d'Hermès où l'artisanat, la créativité et la discrétion comptent le plus.
Après 14 collections chez Hermès, Gaultier revient dans sa maison de couture en 2010, emmenant Samudra avec lui et l'initiant au monde de la haute couture. Là, Samudra apprends à apprécier la beauté de la diversité et a aidé Gaultier à transformer ses fantasmes élaborés en réalité pour la prochaine décennie.
En mars 2020, tout a changé.
Cherchant du réconfort à travers la créativité, l'ingéniosité et un monde de la mode plus attentionné, Samudra a commencé à imaginer comment capturer la beauté dans un monde imparfait. Cela l'a conduit spontanément à sa nouvelle aventure de pièces uniques recyclées qui célèbrent la tradition avec une touche de décadence, tout en s'inspirant de la nature improvisée du jazz avec un esprit parisien ludique.
